UltraORIGINS: JEWELLERY COLLECTION MADE OF COAL AND ASH.
The project has strong local links as the designer receives inspiration directly from the raw material: the carbon comes from deadwood from the designer’s family orchard and the entire process is artisanal and locally produced. The aim is to bestow value on a base material by transforming it into a luxury product. Additionally, the idea is to use ash, which is difficult to handle and turn it into a useable raw material in jewellery making. Thanks to new eco resins and pigments, colour and consistency can be added to the resulting accessory. The concept behind the collection is the metamorphosis of the material and of the lifecycle of things and the uniqueness of each product. The project will also benefit from cross-sectorial cooperation sharing knowledge and values.
