DIGITAL CARNIVAL MASKS

SET OF HANDMADE MASKS THAT TRANSLATES THE HERITAGE OF THE VENETIAN CARNIVAL STORY FOR THE MODERN WORLD BY USING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES

The project

“Persona” is a project that creates a hybrid between mask making and digital technology. The aim is to design a wearable element shaped by the user’s data. The project aims to innovate both the craftmanship process but also invigorate the concept of a mask as something that is socially and historically relevant, as well as developing a first set of parametric identity masks.
The partnership aims to achieve the following objectives:
1 – Generation of a narrative that combines old tradition and modern technology.
2 – Implementation of data in the 3D modelling process of the masks.
3 – Application of digital fabrication into the craft manufacturing process.
4 – Construction of prototypes to introduce to the industry.
