Isabelle Vérilhac oversees the business development at the Cité du design. She manages innovative projects through design in partnership with public and private communities.
She created and set up the materials resource center, the innovative uses and practices labs (LUPI®), the Labos®, and the Design Creative City Living Lab of the Cité du design. She coordinated the European Project IDeALL (Integrating Design for All in Living Labs), that combine design and users’ methodologies. She is a member of the board and treasurer of BEDA (Bureau of European Design Association).

Isabelle Vérilhac holds a doctorate in material chemical physics, and lectures in industrial design and has worked in design, in medical research and development activities.

Cité du design – École Supérieure d’Art et Design (School of Art and Design of Saint-Etienne) is a Public Institution of Cultural Cooperation. The design center (created in 2005) and the school (created in 1803) had occupied the same site, the former Manufacture d’Armes (arms factory) in Saint-Étienne, since 2010. Supported by the City of Saint-Étienne, the Saint-Etienne Metropolitan Government (Saint-Étienne Métropole), the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and the State (Ministry of Culture), the establishment is a platform of higher education, research, economic development and promotion of art and design. The main missions of the Cité du design are to raise the awareness among all audiences about design, art and design training, the development of innovation through design and the production of high visibility events such as the Biennale Internationale Design Saint-Étienne.
